evening for chuck
Started in 2006, when Zach's father/manager, Chuck passed away from pancreatic cancer, this event is a celebration of life and health. It features the best in area singer/songwirters, tasty vegan food, speakers, chef demonstrations, family activities, raffles, and more! A large focus of the event is on diet and lifestyle, and how these elements can prevent, treat, and even cure many cancers, illnesses, and diseases. Visit the website for more information, to view the line-up for this year's event, or to become a sponsor/ donate.
This year's event is the 7th Annual, and will be held at the GAR Hall in Peninsula on Oct 5th at 6:30pm. There is a $5 charge, and proceeds go to Stewart's Caring Place.
The Love Initiative is both a philosophy, a call to action, and a multi-media musical event. Started in 2010, this project seeks to spread random acts of kindness from individuals to our community. The Love Initiative has partnered with both Evening for Chuck and the Akron Peace Project, as well as 91.3 WAPS The Summit and the Akron Civic Theatre. The performances created are unique for each performance, and consist of multi-media, audio-visual, interactive, music, and dialogue. They are a very unique experience. Visit the website for more info, to find out when the next event is taking place, to participate, and to sponsor Love.
peace one day
In 1999, preoccupied with questions about the fundamental nature of humanity and the most pressing issues of our time, filmmaker Jeremy Gilley launched Peace One Day and set out to find a starting point for peace. He had a mission: to document his efforts to establish the first ever annual day of global ceasefire and non-violence with a fixed calendar date.
